Immigration: Then and Now (Mon-Tues)

Today we started to look at the cultural geography of Minnesota - focusing on where Minnesotans tend to come from, both in the past and in more recent times.
Students did what is called a "jigsaw" where they each took a topic (immigrants from either Germany, Sweden, or Norway) and described why they left their homelands and where they settled throughout Minnesota. Kids then talked as a class and put their information up on their Class Wiki to share.

We also began to look at immigration to Minnesota today and see the many similarities between then and today.

Due by the BEGINNING of class on FRIDAY - Immigration then and Now Organizer and Interview with someone who has immigrated in the past and more recent times - Length: 1/2-1 page
