Cultural Geography of Sub Saharan Africa

This week we will start a much more in depth study of the cultural geography of Sub Saharan Africa.

On Wednesday and Thursday classes will start a group project focusing on regions of Sub Saharan Africa. Each group will receive a map of their region, either:
  • West Africa
  • Central Africa
  • East Africa
  • Southern Africa
They will then be researching the region and writing about things like:
  • Economies: Agriculture and Industries
  • Culture: People, Ethnic Groups, History, Ways of Life, Where People Live, Religion, and Traditions.
  • Using the 3rd Theme of Geography: Human/Environment Interaction, how the climate affects the culture of the region.
Then the groups will put this information on their poster using art, writing, or any other pictures or sources students find.
When the posters are finished we will take each groups region and fit it together, like a puzzle into a large map of Africa.
